Barbara Ann Corcoran

 Barbara Ann Corcoran (born March 10 1949) is an American businesswoman, investor and speaker. She is also a consultant, speaker, syndicated columnist, TV personality, author and author. The Corcoran Group is a New York City-based real-estate brokerage. In 2001, it was sold to NRT at $66 million. Corcoran resigned from the company shortly thereafter. Corcoran was one of the original Shark Tank investors. She was a regular on every episode of ABC's Shark Tank. In February of 2020 Corcoran had signed 53 deals, with the largest being a $350,000 investment that was able to cover 40 percent of Coverplay. Corcoran was born in Edgewater, New Jersey, the youngest of 10 children from a working class Irish Catholic family. Florence Corcoran's mom, was a homemaker. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. became her father throughout Corcoran’s childhood. Her family sometimes depended on free food delivery from a local, friendly grocery store. Corcoran says that her father was a drunken man who was rude to her mother and condescension. Corcoran was a struggle throughout her education before discovering that she had dyslexia. Corcoran entered the high school system at St. Cecilia High School Englewood after she had left her Catholic elementary school. Corcoran dropped a few classes during her first year and transferred to Leonia High School where she was a D student.
